Please describe a summary of work undertaken by the SAC to improve student achievement and school performance.

Throughout the school year, as an SAC we examined the following school wide results and policies:

  1. Grade P-3 Reading Goal – why it is important and the continued focus on reading behaviours as opposed to reading levels
  2. Grade 4-6 Math Fluency Goal - why it is important and the continued focus on fostering  the ability to quickly recall addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division math facts through conceptual learning, fact strategies, and memorization
  3. 2022-23 HRCE Well-Being Student Survey results
  4. SSP Short cycle planning – the why and how it is working within the school for both the Grade P-3 Reading Goal and the grade 4-6 Math Fluency Goal.

Please list any significant milestones and success stories that the SAC would like to highlight.

We organized and hosted an event for families in November, highlighting World Children’s Day. Families came to the school gym together and students participated in a variety of activities including colouring, a school graffiti wall, physical play as well as a snack. It was very well received by the school community and was a driving force behind increasing SAC membership and participation.

Please describe any related sub-committee work undertaken by SAC members (e.g., School Options Committee).
